When PECO either turns off or won’t turn your power, for reasons other than bills, it may seem like (and sometimes be) red tape. Often it’s for your own safety.
We recently had a customer who contacted us because PECO, upon a routine service call, cut off power to their home and would not restore it without repairs. We were told there was just a little rust on the meter can (the box your electric meter is housed in) in this case mounted outside the home. Just a little rust turned out to be a lot more than just a little!
An entire side of the meter can is completely disintegrated! While it may seem like PECO is picking on you in such a situation (and sometimes rules are rules for the sake of being rules) it’s a good thing we were called in when we were. This was not only a danger to the homeowner, but their neighbors as well. A fire in a city of row homes is now laughing matter. So, if PECO warns you about the safety of your home’s electrical system be sure to call a licensed electrician ASAP.
The thing about aging electrical services is they may just keep working no matter unsafe. GEN3 can not only update your service making it safe, but follows the proper permit & inspection process to satisfy both the City's Licenses & Inspections Department and PECO, so all parties can be sure your home is now electrically sound. Give our Friendly Neighborhood Home Experts a call so we can do what matter most to us: ensure the safety of your home.
